Luis Pagan

Back

Luis Pagan A 10th-grade student at Cedar Creek High School in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, Mr. Pagan has participated in the 21st CCLC Academic and Community Enrichment program for about five years. He counts one of his major accomplishments as triumphing over bullying and depression related to his use of hearing aids. When the bullying began, he stopped wearing his hearing aids for a time, and even thought about ending his life. He found the strength to reach out to a teacher who helped him work through this challenge and gain confidence in himself.

Mr. Pagan has received a safety patrol award for best officer in the tri-state area. He works hard to make sure his grades are above average because he wants to become a teacher and believes that maintaining good grades and a strong work ethic will help him succeed. School and his homework are priorities; everything else comes second. Mr. Pagan enjoys getting out and helping people, so assists with the Academic and Community Enrichment program five days a week, year-round, to give back to the program that he believes helped him become the person he is today.
