Nathnael Abraham

Back

Nathnael Abraham A fifth-grade student at Carlin Springs Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia, Mr. Abraham has been enrolled at Greenbrier Learning Center since fall 2012. An active, intelligent and dedicated student, he consistently volunteers to be the day’s activity leader to help guide the class through a lesson, seeks opportunities to lead new initiatives and always challenges himself to learn more. He most enjoys free time and soccer, but translates his homework and reading-time energy into assisting others and has a genuine interest in making sure they understand the material. He has a big heart and loves to make others smile.

Mr. Abraham’s leadership skills have drawn recognition at Greenbrier Learning Center and at Carlin Springs Elementary School, which partners with the Arlington Community Federal Credit Union (ACFCU) to run a savings branch at the school. When his fourth-grade teacher selected him as one of four credit union student-staff members, Abraham attended ACFCU training sessions after school and learned all aspects of running the in-school branch, from promoting the credit union to answering questions and accepting applications. He accurately handled all types of member transactions.

Mr. Abraham has enthusiastically participated in other 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs at Carlin Springs, including tutoring, Real Madrid Soccer Academy Club, and Operation Rain Barrel Club. With the latter, he joined a group of gifted students who worked with art teachers after school to paint a rain barrel for George Mason University’s 2015 Earth Day celebration.
